With the end of Winter in site, now is the time to begin your wardrobes annual spring cleaning. But DO NOT toss out your tired and battered old bra's. This Saturday is the fourth annual Secrets From Your Sister Dead Bra Day Sale, where old bra's are donated to Sistering, a womens agency serving homeless, marginalized, and low income women in Toronto.

In exchange, women donating bra's will receive a fitting and a 25% discount on a new bra, choosing from brands such as Cosabella, Betsey Johnson, Prima Donna, and many more.

Sue Richards, co-creator of the Breast of Canada Calendar, proclaimed February 13th as the day to scour our closets in search of old bra's, which prompted Jennifer Klein, owner of Secrets From Your Sister, to create a sale event honouring the special day.

The event takes place Saturday, February 13th between 10 am - 7 pm at their Bloor and Yonge Street Locations (560 Bloor Street W. and 2501 Yonge Street).

Want to feel like a kid in a candy store? Well you don’t have to look far. Dylan Lauren, CEO of Dylan’s Candy Bar(and daughter of the legendary Ralph Lauren),  has brought her passion for candy to select Holt Renfrew stores including Bloor Street, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

For those that haven’t crossed paths with Dylan’s Candy Bar(you’re missing out!), it is an emporium of candy, chocolate and amazing confectionary gifts. In other words, it is absolute deliciousness.
Dylan plans to expand her candy empire, but unfortunately, the set-up in the Holt Renfrew on Bloor(pictured below) isn’t there for good. You’ll be able to satisfy your sweet tooth until after the holiday season but if I were you, I’d go before it’s slim pickings!

Nov 28 2009 - "Rock Your Frock" Holiday Party

It’s tough to stay confident about your body when we are surrounded by unreal(and heavily photoshopped) images of women. Founder of Lola & Gigi, a Toronto based fashion showroom and weboutique, and Chief Curvy Fashionista, Laura Caravaggio, is fighting for what she believes. Her goal: to try and make women feel great about themselves by providing an environment where they can shop for clothing in their size that fits their shape and their personality.

According to U.S. Census Bureau 62% of the female population wears size 12 + and only 10% of fashion retailers market to the curvaceous woman. How limiting and frustrating is that? Lola & Gigi brings stylish clothing to women size 12-24. Laura believes in her brand because it provides women with choices so that they buy what they really love instead of merely what fits, “I believe foremost in the fit, style & quality of the clothing I provide and the uniqueness of the clothing.  I'm always on the lookout for new designers and styles that are not available anywhere else in Canada.”

Aside from Lola & Gigi, Laura is also working on a few other projects, the first being the "Rock Your Frock" Holiday Style Party on Nov 28th at the Old Mill Inn(that’s your cue to mark it down in your calendars!!), featuring vintage-inspired jewelery by Stella & Dot and evening shoes in sizes 10-13 from Barefoot Tess. This (free!) event will help curvy women sparkle from head to toe. “I love putting a woman in the change room with loads of pieces for them to try on and then seeing their faces when they come out in piece after piece of clothing that they love and that fits! I also love it when I suggest something that might not look that interesting on the hanger, but once they try it on they see how fabulous it looks on them.” Laura's rocking the city one frock at a time, come join in on the fun on Nov 28th!
